Good Morning!
It's been a while, so there's lot of news:
On Monday we went to see the orthopedic doctor here in Bullhead City who consulted on Tim's breaks while he was in Valley View Hospital. That's Dr. Stamper. He took xrays of both upper arms, the right thigh and the entire pelvis. He showed us where all the new bone is forming and said that everything is healing nicely. (even the pelvis!) That's all great news! That pelvis was a mess and God made it look like a pelvis again and is mending it! Dr. Stamper says to continue physical therapy and start outpatient therapy as soon as the home pt is finished.
On September 22nd we saw Tim's doctor and friend of many years, Larry Keating. He's systematically lessening the amount of pills Tim's been taking and we're hoping this makes him feel better.
For the most part, Tim's been using a cane instead of a walker and getting around quite well. He's been to church the last 3 weeks in a row and visits us at work a couple days a week for a few hours (just to see how things are going) and therapy 3 days a week. All of this sufficiently wears him out.
Right now, he and Zeke weigh about the same; we're working on Tim's appetite. He says he has none, so, he pretty much gets whatever he asks for (to eat).
Today we're going for routine blood tests and the next appt. with Larry is 10/13.

Now you're caught up: Hope you all have a great day!
Thank God for His amazing love and mercy,
Suzi

Hi Everyone,

Today Tim came to the shop for a few hours and ended up staying all day!! Wow! He's very tired and almost ready to go home now, but he did really well and helped out a bunch!
God has really proven His love for our family (as if He needed to).

Thursday the PT, Max, came over again and he'll be back Monday morning.

I think we're all feeling a little better and hopefully we'll have no more colds in our house for a while.

Thanks for taking the time to keep up with Tim's progress and of course for your prayers!
Talk to you soon,
Suzi

HOME AT LAST!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry it's been so long since I've written. (10 days)

Tim's home finally! On Sunday, a nurse came to the house to evaluate him before the physical therapist could come today, and everything seems to be moving along swimmingly! Now he has work to do according to the PT (Max is his name).

Now it seems the whole family has some sort of chest cold to deal with - that's making Tim really happy. Hee Hee Poor Timi Lynn, everyone's has blamed her and she's sick too.

It shouldn't be so long till the next posting, probably tomorrow.

Thanks for checking on us,
Suzi

Hello All,
Good news! Tim has walked 65' now with no rest or break! He's doing so well that they're looking to have him released a week early! Thursday, September 3rd is the goal date now. On Tuesday the 2nd, we have to be at the rehab at 7:00am so we can learn whatever it is they want to teach us and then a family conference with the doctors and physical therapists. It'll be great to have him home.
Thanks so much for your prayers! See, they really work!
P.S. Keep checking the blog, I'll keep writing.

Hello,

Here's some good news for you: Yesterday, Tim walked the length of the gym using a walker! The gym is probably 30 ft. long & he did it twice (with a rest in the middle). The PT named Shauna told me that last night when I went to see Tim at dinner time. He's getting stronger every day. I can't wait to see what will happen next!

Happy Birthday to my dad, Lon Adams!

Talk to ya later,
Suzi

Good Morning Everyone,

This weekend Tim was looking great! The PT team & doctors are still looking to sending him home on 9/9. He's looking forward to that!

So far, he's been getting stronger everyday; working towards standing on his own & walking also. I watched him transfer from wheel chair to bed on Sunday by himself using a transfer board - it was a beautiful sight! It's amazing how much stronger he is in a week. God is good!

Thank you for sticking with us and for your prayers.
Suzi

Saturday, August 22, 2009

Hello Everyone,
Well, we have a tentative goal date set for Tim to go home: September 9th, 2009. I'm not sure of the goals they want him to achieve before he leaves but we'll probably find out on the 3rd at our 'family conference'. Pretty sure also that he'll continue to have physical therapy on a daily basis at the same hospital (hopefully).

Last night, Tim looked the best I've seen him since the accident! He even smiles once-in-a-while now. Praise God for that!

This past week PT had him working with weights on his legs and upper body and standing & walking with the parallel bars. I think he over did some of the weights on his left quad muscle - lots of pain; hopefully that will heal this weekend so he can practice walking again next week.

Now, once again, you guys know what I know.
Thanks for your thoughts & prayers!

NEWS FROM FT. MOHAVE

Hi,
I just wanted you all to know that physical & occupational therapy have been working with Tim daily; helping him to stand & walk & transfer from wheel chair to bed by himself. I guess he & Taryn will be learning to walk together.

Lately he's been looking better & better. I think they must have his pain medicine figured out for the most part and I think he's feeling better as well. He's been having some trouble with low blood sugars but they'll get that figured out too.

Talk to ya later,
Suzi

Good Morning All,

It's been a while since I logged in to say anything: I'm sorry.

So far, Tim's doing pretty well in Valley View Rehab, rm# 104. He's not making great strides, but he is making progress. They've had him doing a lot of work with weights on his legs in the gym and yesterday he took baby steps forward and backward in the parallel bars. Also, at times they're having him get from his wheel chair into bed without the help of the "Sarah Lift". See, that's progress. I'm really proud of him!

Thanks for you continued prayers - I know he needs all the encouragement he can get!

FYI: Visiting hours are 3:45pm - 8:00pm on weekdays, and all day on Saturday & Sunday. Usually they're pretty lenient regarding the hours you show up & stay.

Thanks, Suzi

Good Morning From Ft. Mohave! finally

Hello everyons,
Finally they moved Tim to the Rehab In Ft. Mohave yesterday morning. He got there just in time for lunch.

Today should be the usual routine of rehab all day till 3:30 if they can get his pain medicine right. The doctors are more than willing to help with that, which is good.

He's in room #104 @ Valley View Medical Center in the Rehab Dept. & visiting hours are 3:45 pm till 8:oo pm. All day on Saturdays & Sundays.

More Later,
Suzi

Good Morning, (It is still morning in Vegas)

We just saw the doctor; he said everything is all set for Tim to go & he's writing it up now. So, if we don't hold our breaths, maybe Tim will be in Ft. Mohave @ Valley View Rehab before his birthday tomorrow.

I'll try to write quick when they show up to get him so you all know that he's really being moved.

Suzi

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Well Sports Fans, looks like one more night in Vegas. Tim's disappointed, but he'll make it through the night and he'll be much better when they get him to Ft. Mohave (hopefully tomorrow).

Just thought I'd let you know we're still here.
Thank you so much for your prayers, they are needed and appreciated.
Suzi

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.
Good morning, I'm writing to you from rm# 326 @ UMC in Vegas.
Yes, that's right, we're still here waiting to see what the rest of the day will bring. Just heard from the case manager working for the insurance company, checking to make sure that it was alright with us if they moved Tim back to rehab. When I assured her that it was, she said she would start making the arrangements. So, hopefully Tim will get transferred today sometime.

Now you're up to date.
We're just waiting,
Suzi

Monday, August 10, 2009

Hello,
The doc was just here & said that probably first thing tomorrow (by noon) Tim could be moved back to Ft. Mohave. So, we'll spend one more night here.

Other than that, he said that Tim's liver is NORMAL! Great News! God Is Good!

Okie Dokie Then,
Talk to you later,
Suzi
Well, we're still here @ noon on Monday, and haven't seen any docs yet. Kind of a let down for Tim, but we've been in this place long enough to know how things work (SLOWLY).

We so appreciate every one of you staying connected with us and your thoughts and prayers.

Here's a verse that Tim's Uncle Eldon sent to us this morning: Psalm 40:11 As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me.

It's always good to be reminded of God's faithfulness!
Hopefully the next post will be from Ft. Mohave.

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Hi everyone! Just thought we'd let you know that things are pretty much the same here @ UMC.

We saw 4 (count 'em: four) docs today. Even the orthopedic surgeon came in and said everything looks good. Tim's left leg has been turned outward at probably 35% lately and the doctor said that we could fix that by making sure to hold it straight. I had no idea; I thought surgery was the only way to fix that. So that's good news and something else to work on. I know it pains him some but I think he was a little relieved to know that he could fix it himself.

The other docs changed some medicines or added or subtracted medicines. We'll see tomorrow how that all works out.

I know I've posted these verses before, but they are certainly something I'm holding onto during this time. Lamentations 3:21,22&23: But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS!

Thanks for staying with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SISTER-IN-LAW SHELLY ADAMS!

Good Morning,

Tim slept till about 4:30 this morning; I guess he had a pretty good night.

The wound care team came in to change the bandage on his bed sore (as they do everyday), it's been getting better & smaller day by day. Today there is a dark spot in one corner of the wound. They said this part is deeper; that's new. The rest of the wound looks so good - hopefully this will get better as everything else has with all of your /our prayers.

So yesterday, we only saw the kidney doc. Kidneys still doing well. The other two docs never showed. I guess they couldn't handle the begging & pleading from us : Please send us to Ft. Mohave! Just kidding. Apparently they didn't have anything new to tell us.

Okay, if we find anything out today, I'll let you know.
Have a great Saturday!
Suzi

Friday, August 7, 2009

Hi everyone,

Well, we've already heard that Tim will not be moved today to Ft. Mohave. His labs are not quite good enough to go yet. The doctors at the rehab are concerned that he'll be sick in no time if he comes with labs that are not quite up to par. They don't want to have to send him back. Also the doctor here is apprehensive about sending him in this condition. So, I guess it was a unanimous decision. Tim is disappointed, but he'll make it through the weekend. I'll be here to keep him company.

Here's a Bible verse that has kept me going through all this: Romans 5: 3,4&5 ...More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Thanks for your prayers,
Suzi ENDURANCE! CHARACTER! HOPE!

Hi,
I guess we'll see tomorrow if Tim gets moved to Ft Mohave. White count level is down & the doc took Tim off antibiotics for now. That's good.
Hopefully the high liver enzyme is lower tomorrow too.
Everyone have a great night!
Suzi
Hi everyone,

Tim had a great night, he said he slept good all night long! That's wonderful!
Everyone needs one of those once-in-while!
We haven't seen docs yet to know if levels are coming down.

Nurses are very busy here today, apparently the "big bosses" are here. Look out. Suddenly a nurse rushes in and writes Tim's name on everything. Weird. (Must be a requirement)

Well, we'll talk more later,
Have a great day!

WAY TO GO ELI MANNING! TAKIN' HOME THE BIG BUCKS!

I guess it's obvious we watch too much ESPN... something about $97.5 million; you just gotta talk about it.

Well, hi from UMC still. Tim's general doctor came in to say that one liver enzyme is still to high but coming down and white count is still up, so he wants to see those come down before he sends Tim back to rehab.

Thought you might want to know that and this: Eli & his brother, Peyton are #3 & #4 highest paid players in the NFL.

Talk to ya later,
Suzi
Okay, we just saw Dr. Johanna who is an Internal Medicine Doctor. She and her "attending" are the doctors concerned with Tim's liver.
Dr. Johanna explained that the ducts on the liver to the small intestine is what has been damaged. No way to say how much damage was caused but his liver enzymes are improving. They think that one of the heart medicines Tim was on during this ordeal is what may have caused it. Also, she said this was acute and not chronic which is better because the liver is more likely to heal this way.
So if any of that makes sense, you now know as much as we do.
Thanks to God for His mercy & healing! And thanks to you all for your prayers!
Now we'll see how long it takes for all the powers that be to confer & agree to send Tim back to rehab. Privately, they've each said that they agree he no longer needs to be in a hospital but in a rehab instead.
Thanks for hanging with us,
Suzi
Good morning,
Just waiting to see docs this morning. We have lots of questions; one of them being "When can we go back to Ft. Mohave?". This week they seem to be making rounds a little later than last week.
I'll get back to you as soon as we see someone.

"The Envelope Please"

Hi,
Well when we saw the doctor today, he said the biopsy showed that what liver damage was there, was most likely caused by the medicines given to him in the hospital.
But, we still haven't talked to the Liver doctors yet. The general doc said they could explain the results further.
Hopefully we'll see them soon.
Thanks for your prayers,
Suzi

Monday, August 3, 2009

Hi,
It's 5:50 here in Vegas and no results yet. Maybe we'll get some news tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know that we don't know yet.
What we do know is God's still in our corner as He always will be. IICorinthians 1:10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will deliver us again.
Tim's in alot of pain today. Hopefully it's just because he's been moving & working more.
Thanks for checking with us,
Suzi
Good Morning,

Today, maybe we'll get some results from the liver byopsy.
Yesterday I was watching as PT helped Tim stand up with the use of a walker. He took 5 small steps while turning to sit in a chair. It was very painfull. Hopefully as he does that more his pain will lessen. He needs a lot of help when standing - he just doesn't have the strength yet. Still, I'm very proud of him!
Our verses to hold onto today are Lamentations 3:21,22, 23: But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. they are new every morning;great is your faithfulness.
Thankyou so much for you continued prayers for healing! We couldn't be handling this well without them!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Good morning everyone,
Tim woke up early this morning, about 4:ooam, but he's had a couple of short naps since about 8:00. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a great day.
Dr. Patel, Tim's general contractor, said Tim needs to be standing more & more. He still has to have a lot of help from PT to stand. The doc said he was going to write PT a note to that effect. So, hopefully he'll be standing w/help a few times a day, and then in no time he'll be doing it by himself!
We're still waiting for results from the byopsy. Kind of half way expecting them tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

FUN & GAMES

Hi everyone!
During the night, under cover of darkness, the nurses moved Tim four doors down. Is this some sick joke nurses play when they're board? Do they fancy themselves a "Mobile Army Surgical Unit"?
Just teasing - a patient came in who needed to be on a respirator and room 330 was equipped for it. So Tim got to be moved to 326. Sitting here in 326 you'd have no idea you were moved if you were asleep during the process; these rooms are identical!
As for today, it's been uneventful. Doctors stopped by early with no news and Physical Therapy didn't show. Just a few minutes ago Tim had me help him sit on the side of the bed. He stayed there for about fifteen minutes.
Oh! There is some good news! I almost for got to tell you about the bed sore: it's getting better! Yeah!
Okay, have a great afternoon, we'll talk later,
Suzi

Friday, July 31, 2009

Hi there!
First we want say our condolences to Steve C. His girlfriend, Renee, passed away 2 days ago. We're sorry Steve. We'll miss her.
Tim must be feeling a little better; he ate all three meals today! That's the most in about a week. Yeah Tim!
Thanks for your continued prayers and please add Steve, I know he's hurting.
Suzi

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Hi,
We heard from the orthopedic doctor today and he said that Tim can put full weight on all four limbs as tolerated. So today, the PT Girls came in and stood him up on both legs w/a walker and he took a couple of baby steps to the chair to sit down! That's really great!!!
Doctor Patel, Tim's General Contractor, said that it could take as long as a week to get byopsy results back and then maybe more tests.
Again, I guess we'll wait here.
Talk to ya later,
Suzi
Hi, just found out that it takes 48 to 72 hrs to get results from a byopsy; and with the weekend invovled, it might be Monday before we hear anything. So, I guess we'll just wait here; right? More later after we see a few doctors today.
Suzi
Good Morning,
Tim got back from the trans-jugular liver byopsy about 9:00am. Not a very long proceedure since they only picked him up at 7:30.
So now we're waiting for results; not sure how many days that'll take. But he looks good and is awake, still nauseated.
I'll let you know as soon as I know something.
Thanks for your prayers!
Suzi

FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

Well, they just came in and asked if Tim minded if they did the Trans - Jugular Liver Byopsy first thing in the morning (which means about 7:00am) or wait indefinitely tonite. So, he opted for first thing in the morning. So now he can eat something!!! Yeah!
Suzi

Good Morning!

Hi, I thought I'd write really fast while I could still say "good morning".
We're still waiting for the liver byopsy. Obviously we thought they'd pick him up sooner than this because yesterday's ERCP was so early.
They've changed the way they will perform the byopsy: they're calling this a Trans-Jugular Byopsy. The nurse explained that this way is more of a straight shot as opposed to doing it in the CT Lab which is how they were going to do it originally. She likened that to "a shot in the dark".
The kidney doctor came by and said that Tim's kidneys are doing better and he's going to lessen the amount of iv fluids he's getting.
The orthopedic surgeon requested some xrays of Tim's pelvis, they did those yesterday. Hopefully we'll see him today so he can explain what he saw.
Again, thank you for the prayers, we're hoping and praying for healing.
I'll write more when he's back from the proceedure,
Suzi

Oops! I made a mistake: they shall walk and not faint. last line of Isaiah 40:31
Hello,
Well the charge nurse said that the ERCP showed nothing abnormal but that we would have to wait for the doctor to give us more detail.
Tim's back in his room now & resting after eating breakfast late. They're saying that a liver byopsy is scheduled tentatively for tomorrow. Today they are giving him 2 units of plasma, not whole blood. Apparently that's why the byopsy is tomorrow instead of today: they want his blood to be just right.
Thanks for the prayer support I know it's helping.
This is the verse we're thinking about today: Isaiah 40:31 But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run & not be weary; they shall run & not faint.
Thanks,
Suzi
P.S. Taryn is a crawler now!!!!

Monday, July 27, 2009

Just saw one more doctor: they will do another scope test tomorrow called ERCP. It will go into the common duct of his liver, inject some dye & look around there. The doc said just now that his liver is in pretty bad shape.
Please keep sending those prayers for healing - Tim really needs God's healing now. Also His strength.
Thanks,
Suzi

Back To The Waiting Game

Hi Everyone,
It's almost 5:30 here in Vegas, kinda late for everyone east of us; sorry.
We actually got to see three (count 'em, three) doctors today and had one great nurse, Mary. The docs are kinda playing the waiting game & just trying to figure out why the liver is acting up. So far we have no answer as to where Tim's loosing blood & if he is, it's pretty slowly; his blood count is only a little lower than it should be. They also think the kidneys are doing better with the lasics they've been giving him.
Most of the day Tim's been sleeping: he woke up for physical therapy girls to set him on the side of the bed for a while & he may have been awake for his bath this afternoon. Other than that, he's barely awake to eat. Probably good healing time for his body.
Okay, that's all I know today. You all have been a great encouragement to me - thanks for your thoughts & prayers for Tim!
Suzi

RESULTS

Hello,
The kidney ultra sound did not show why his kidney function would be low (no enough pee). The doc just said that this is the main thing we are concerned about right now. They are giving Tim lasics & fluids to try to jump start the kidneys. If this doesn't work, they'll probably do some dialysis temporarily.
The MRCP showed gall stones in the common duct (bile duct) but they are non obstructive (they let bile flow). They may have to do a liver biopsy to find out what is causing elevated liver enzymes.
Now we're all up to date.
Thank you for your continued prayers,
Suzi

WAITING FOR RESULTS

Hi Everyone,
Sorry about no post yesterday, just couldn't get things together to get it done.
Yesterday wasn't a very good day anyway, Tim spent most of it nauseated and in & out of sleep.
Last night, he went for an ultrasound on the kidneys and this morning he had an MRI. (I think to look at the gall bladder & pancreas & liver) Now we're just waiting to see what the tests found. I'm pretty sure Tim's sick of being sick so I hope they find something (that can be fixed & fast).
Thanks for your prayers, I'll let you know as soon as I know something.

3rd Floor - IMCU

Hi, It's late, but we just got moved to room 330 in Intermediate Care on the 3rd floor.
The test to look inside the GI tract was finally done about 7:30 this evening; it showed that Tim has Gastritus. (inflamation) Now we're waiting for an MRI. I guess they're still looking for liver problems &/or some internal bleeding to explain the low blood count on Wednesday.
He's been nauseated all day and yesterday as well. He got something to eat about an hour ago but could not get it down.
Right now Tim's resting; hopefully he'll rest well the whole night. We should get the results of the MRI sometime tomorrow and I'll let you know what they are.

Thanks for your prayers,
Suzi

Back to Las Vegas

Hi Everyone!
I am sorry that it has been so long since we have updated. We have had some Internet problems the last few days. However, much has happened in the last two days. Just to catch you up I will skip yesterday and get right to today.

This morning a nurse called my mom to say that after throwing up all night and many other things, as soon as arrangements could be made they will be sending Tim back to Las Vegas to University Medical Center. We got there right away and Dr. Parks came and gave us the report.
The main problem they are concerned with is his liver. The liver function numbers have gone very high in the last day. Biliruben (makes you yellow and is bad to have to much of) was at 1.5 yesterday and today it was 6.0 . Normal is 0.5.
He had to have a blood transfusion yesterday because his blood count was down to 8.1. After the transfusion his level was to 9.4. That number is better, but not as high as it should be, That made them think that he is bleeding internally. After a few tests were done they did find a collection of blood in front of the pelvis. That blood looks old though. This morning after he threw up some tests were done on his vomit and they discovered he does have a GI bleed. Hopefully it is just a gastric ulcer.
Dr. Parks also said my dad has mild congestive heart failure. As well as some pneumonia again. And he has gal stones now.

The reason he had to go back to las vegas is he needs a GI specialist who can do a test called an ERCG (i think those were the letters) which is a scope down the throat and into the gal bladder to see if they can get the gal stones out that way. Dr. Parks said the liver problems could possibly come from the gal bladder problems.

That is all I know right now, but I will let you know more or my mom will as we know.

We will keep looking to the Lord for strength!

Today at lunch Suzi went to visit with Tim. She got there and found him very lethargic. Apparently his red blood cell count is low so he is receiving transfusions. We hope the doctor will have something good to tell us or at least be able to explain what is going on with Dad today. The doctor will come between 5 and 6pm.
Will write again later! So glad you're still checking in on us!

Erin
Tuesday all the girls (Suzi, Timi Lynn, Taryn, and I) were able to go eat lunch with Tim. He was in the gym just before lunch. And after we ate, and visited for a while, it was right back to therapy for Dad! He has been doing very well. And I think he is pretty determined. Each time he is strong enough to do something new he does it all the time. For example, now he is able to roll onto his sides with out any help, so he does. He always wheels himself around now, sits up on his own, and gets some of the equipment ready that gets him out of bed. We know you are still praying, and thank you! Some of these days we would never make it through without those prayers!

Monday, July 20, 2009

Tim has had a low grade fever off and on since last night. I don't think anyone is very worried about it right now. He does look great though! He has lost all of the weight from the extra fluids! And, his hands are the cleanest I've ever seen them! :)

We just came from the hospital. Today is Tyler's birthday so we had cupcakes in Dad's room this evening. It was fun! Dad was in pain and waiting for 9pm which is when he was allowed some pain medicine. Hopefully he will get some good rest tonight.

I would like to thank all of you for reading our blog still! I do appologize for not being able to update as often as we were in Las Vegas, but we try to write at least once a day. Your support and comments mean so much to us all!

The benefit and Tim's progress!

The benefit this Saturday was a HUGE success! EVERYONE was so generous! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I can't even find words to say how thankful we are! Very many people put in hours and hours of effort and even more people came out to show their support! Extra special thank you to Shelly! You are the best party planner we know!!

I was able to spend the afternoon at the hospital with Dad. Each day he makes progress by leaps and bounds! Today I walked in to see him sit up from lying down all on his own! Also he showed his skills by wheeling himself to the dining room twice! He gets along with the nurses very well. They have all been very helpful and kind.

Timi Lynn's martial arts tournament was great! It was so fun to watch! She won 2nd place in Team Combat Sparring. And she fought very well! In the semi finals she was one of the last three to fight! My personal favorite part of the whole event was when she busted a board with her head!!! She is AWESOME!! Sorry you all missed it!

I am so proud of Timi Lynn! And I am so proud of my Dad! You two ROCK!

"My best day yet..."

We just keep finding reasons to praise God! Thursday was "my best day yet.." said Tim. That was so great to hear him say! He did his therapy session and even wheeled himself up and down the hall a couple of times! He says that is VERY hard work. But I think he feels good knowing he can do that. Still he puts no weight on his legs by standing, but all of the exercises he does are just getting his body ready for that, when the time comes. The surgeon did come talk to him and said no more surgery will be needed!
He looked very well last night! Many visitors came and I know he was happy to see some of his friends! Tomorrow I am going to cut his hair in the morning. It is starting to get in his way. :)

Everyone have a great day! We'll write again soon!

Hard day...

Today was a ruff day. Dad was able to do very little today. He is in very much pain. I personally think that Tuesday was such a big day and maybe he over did it a little. It has been a little more than a month since he has even been out of bed for any length of time and yesterday he was very active. After a day of physical therapy he sat in his wheel chair for quite some time.
He is having the most pain when he has to sit. He says that his hip just feels like it is twisting when he sits on it. . . Ouch! I can't imagine... Tomorrow is a new day though.
Please pray that God will give Tim strength to get through the days to come. As well as peace and patience while his body heals.
Our family has been so blessed with friends! Thank you all again and again for being so generous, for the support and for the much needed prayers!
Good night.

Valley View

Hi All!
This is Erin writing today. Dad was moved to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, AZ
Monday evening. Woo Hoo! Fort Mohave is not as Internet friendly as Las Vegas is. So we are just trying to find a new groove that will allow us to keep updating the blog daily.

Dad (Tim) is in the Valley View Rehab center room 105. Visiting hours do not start until 4 pm daily, but Saturday is open all day long. He is much more comfortable here! He even said the food is better :)

They wasted no time getting him to work. Tuesday morning when they got him up, they helped him get dressed and ready for the day. This will happen everyday so as he becomes more independent he will be comfortable doing these things on his own. Last night, when I saw him, he was in good spirits even though he was very sore and worn out. Apparently he went to the gym for therapy and says that every muscle was worked! That's great! I am sure he may not think "great" is the word to describe it, but I know the more he can do the better he will get.

Last night 16 xrays were taken (some of each broken limb as well as the pelvis). Dr. Stamper (the same doctor who worked with Dad for his broken leg last year) will be coming to see him soon. A surgeon in las vegas had said that the left hip is really displaced, but wouldn't be doing any surgery on it yet. That surgeon said he would check it out again in 3 or 4 weeks. 4 weeks was last Saturday and Dad was moved Monday. We aren't even sure surgery will have to be done. Also, once he was moved to VV he was being moved and he felt a pain in his left upper arm/shoulder. That has been bothering him ever since. I guess we will see what Dr. Stamper has to say after seeing all of the xrays.

My Mom (Suzi) went back to work today. She will probably leave at 3:30 ish to get to the hospital by 4 to visit with Dad.

Everyone has been really great! So many people have helped in so many ways! Your prayers have really helped us through each day! God really does reach out to us in ways we never expect. Please know that we are so thankful that God has put each of you in our path!
This Saturday very many people have come together to put on a benefit to help my parents out! We are really looking foward to this event! Another big thing going on in our family this week is Timi Lynn has a martial arts tournament Saturday. So a few of us will be late to the benefit, but I know Timi Lynn is gonna do great!

Have a great day everyone! We'll write again soon!

TRANSFER ORDERS

Hi,
Well we finally got our transfer orders & should be moving within this hour to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, AZ. less than a 1/2 mile from our house. Yeah! Hopefully I'll be talking to you tonite from Arizona.
Suzi

A MONTH IN VEGAS - WHAT A VACATION!!!!

Good morning !

Not much going on this morning; just waiting to see the results of the xrays of Tim's upper left arm and wondering if he'll be moved to Valley View Rehab today.

Finally Tim is on a regular diet & not the ground up baby food diet he has been on. The speech therapist was concerned that he may not be able to swallow correctly after having the vent tube removed but that's going fine now.

Okay, so here's what helps me get through some of these days: God will supply our every "stinkin" need. This is my Sister-in-Law, Terri's paraphrase. I love it so much because even if my need is "Just get us through the day" I can count on God for that.

Taking it one minute at a time,
Suzi

Hi,

The physical & occupational therapy guys just left. They came in and slid Tim into a wheel chair using a transfer board. He sat there for about an hour (pretty bad pain for the last 1/2 hour) and then they put him back in bed, not using the transfer board. Maybe they thought the transfer board didn't work as well as it should have. It's just kind of a bridge they use to slide the person across from one place to another. It's about 1' x 3'. Now he's in bed resting.

The physical therapist is concerned that Tim's legs are so swollen. They are way smaller than they were 5 days ago.

Hope you all have a good Sunday afternoon & evening.

HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY DALE & VI HEBBERT!!!
Hi Everyone,
We just found out that Monday should be the day for trasport to a rehab hospital. The doc just told us that the rehab was/is waiting for insurance confirmation but that there is a bed for Tim at Valley View as soon as that happens. That will be nice, Valley View Rehab Hospital is very close to our home in Fort Mohave.

Thank you for remembering to pray for Tim; he's in almost constant pain and growing restless but his muscles are getting stronger by the day. I'm sure that soon he'll be motovating by himself.

Talk to you a little later,
Suzi

Friday, July 10, 2009

Well, we're still here, in room 404. We heard that maybe they won't move us till Monday. That's okay, because everyday Tim gets a little stronger; maybe he'll be ready for 3 hours of physical therapy a day when he gets there.

Thanks, once again for all your prayers!
We know they help,
Suzi

PLEASE WRITE YOUR SENATORS...

Apparently we need to go before the parole board to get out of here. It's past noon & we still haven't heard if we'll be shipped out today. Not that it's so bad here, it's actually pretty good as far as hospitals go.

So, we're waiting patiently in room 404.

Physical therapy girls came in and tried to help Tim stand today - he just couldn't do it. Not enough strength in his right leg. He did do alot of excersises though and his right arm & hand is almost back to normal size. Also, his feet have lost alot of fluid since yesterday. The skin is starting to get wrinkly.

Okay, Talk to everyone later,
Suzi

Musical Beds ?

Hi from room #404. The nurses put patients into catagories & grouped like catagories together. Isn't this fun...

Well Tim's taking it well, and maybe we'll be shipped to a rehab facility tomorrow around mid day. Hopefully back to Bullhead. (weird, have you ever heard anyone say that before?)

Okay, talk to ya later,
Suzi

Good News!

We just got word that work comp is picking up our case! Yeah!
Oh Boy ! Does that take a load off!

The Inevitable...

Well, it happened. Tim has a bed sore. As if we needed something else to look out for, but this is small potatoes (as long as we handle it right). Any way, I'm looking forward to him standing more & more; so that will cause better circulation & promote healing.

Apparently the old saying is true: there's no rest for the weary. Seems like every few days Tim doesn't sleep for a night or two. What's that all about? Well, he's trying to rest now.

Wishing everyone a safe trip on the way to Ute Lake this weekend. Out thoughts & prayers for a safe fun weekend are with you. Wish we were there too.

The verse we are leaning on today is: Isaiah 41:13, For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, Fear not, I am the one who helps you.

And on that note, have a great day!

STANDING

Hi, Tim stood today for the first time since June 13th. Yeah Tim!!!!!
He said it only lasted for about 20 seconds, but that's a start.
And, the doctor was happy with his progress today also! That's amazing - I didn't think that was possible.

I think we're going to try to watch Grand Torino (Clint Eastwood) tonite on DVD. (In between naps)

Okay, talk to you later,
Suzi
Hi,
just wanted you to know that we're back to the same old grind up here on the fourth floor: wake up, wait for the doc, wait for physical therapist, ask for pain meds, etc. I must say, Tim is being a real trooper about all this. He even puts up with me when I say it's time to sit on the edge of the bed. He's doing really well. Most of the swelling in his upper body is gone except for the right arm. I think because he can't use his right arm very much. He is still carrying alot of fluid on his lower body. I'm sure as he moves more & more, that will go away also.

He still is not strong enough to stand. I guess that will come in time.

More as I know it,
Suzi
Thanks for your prayers - they are really needed!

We're Moved

Hello Everyone from rm# 413, just one floor up from where we were in Intermediate Care. Now Tim's in a regular hospital room: with the usuall excellent care, I'm sure.

He's resting comfortably and probably will for a few more hours.

We're still hoping to be moved to BHC or Fort Mohave soon.

Talk to you in the morning,
Suzi

Waiting To Be Moved

Good morning everyone,
Yesterday the nurse told us that the doc said Tim would be moved, either to another floor because he is more stable (less critical) or to a rehab hospital or nursing home somewhere... we're hoping for Valley View in Fort Mohave. Placement is an issue because they're not sure he'll be able to take 3 hours of rehab a day right away which is required in a rehab hospital.

We're reminding ourselves once again that God knows what's going on and He'll take care of Tim where ever he is.

I'll write more later when I find something out.
Suzi

Monday, July 6, 2009

Hi,
Today we are learning to deal with the new form of pain medication and just waiting to see the doctor. Hopefully everything will fall in line for us to leave this week and get Tim in a rehab hospital. I guess the holiday got in the way and slowed things down; but we know that God is in charge and things happen for a reason.
Also today I'm trying to keep in mind Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

I'll let you know as soon as I know something,
Suzi

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Good Evening Everyone,

Hope your day was great!
The doctor changed the kind of morphine Tim's taking to 2 pills of slow acting morphine every eight hours. It took one and a half to two hours of really bad pain before it TKO'd him. I think I could have a brass band in here and he wouldn't know it.

Hopefully he'll be awake enough tomorrow to do his homework (exercises) and see the physical therapists.

Okay, I just wanted to say Hi! before the day ended.
Seeya!
Suzi

Happy 5th of July!!!

Hi Everyone,
Yesterday was uneventful. Tim slept most of the day. Muscles were very sore from a couple of days ago. We did hear that the cat scan of his head was negative which means they didn't see anything wrong up there! YEAH! (Some of you might take issue with that)

Today Occupational Therapy came to help him sit up for a while: after they got him up onto the side of the bed, he sat there for 20 minutes by himself. That's really good!

Before that & especially now, he's in alot of pain so they'll bring pain meds.
I'm sure he'll nap for a while because he is ,even now.

Okay Guys, I write more later.
Have a great afternoon!
Suzi

A Little Good News

Hi Everyone,
We saw Dr. Ontengo a little while ago and he had some good news:

There is no infection in Tim's blood stream, "maybe just a contaminate but he's on the antibiotic to cover it".

All of Tim's labs look good. Yeah!

We're mainly just concerned w/the rehab for now.

THAT'S GREAT - RIGHT!?

Sometime today Tim will have a cat scan of his head because he's still experiencing some confusion: So far the other scans of his head showed nothing wrong - I really don't expect anything different this time.

As always, we appreciate your continued prayers.

Suzi

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Hi,
Almost mid-day in Las Vegas, Dr. Ontengo just came in to see Tim. He said the pneumonia is getting better. That's good news!

Physical Therapy came today and Tim actually lifted his right leg by himself! That's real progress from 2 days ago. No standing yet; he's still a little weak for that.

Right now they're getting him set to move into a chair to set for a little while.

I guess Im gonna help w/that.
Suzi
Good Morning Everyone,
Last night they started Tim on a really strong antibiotic, Vancomycin, to combat the infection found in his blood stream. They also put in a 'pic line' which would be used to give iv's and draw blood etc. They're taking out the 'central line' to see if something is growing on the end of it which may have caused this infection.
Tim's breakfast just arrived so I'll talk to you later.
Thanks,
Suzi

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Hello,
sorry it's so late in the day, but I've been waiting to see what the doctor had to say. Still no doc.

Yesterday, Tim & I worked on his 'homework' (exercises to keep musclfes moving & strengthen legs, arms & lungs) four or five times. He felt much better throughout the day. This morning when the physical therapists came it was like we hadn't done anything at all. He was stiff again and very dizzy when they helped him sit on the edge of the bed w/feet on the floor. I guess that's to be expected when you haven't moved for about two & a half weeks.

Right now there is a gastroenterologist here examining him. He didn't say much except that they would be back this evening.

We really appreciate your prayers.
Suzi

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Okay, we finally got to see someone from physical therapy & she brought someone from occupational therapy. They did not have him stand but sat him on the edge of the bed for about 7 minutes. He was pretty light headed & felt like he couldn't breathe but they kept him there. He'll probably do better the next time. That was the first time in two & a half weeks he sat with feet on the floor. I guess we should expect him to be light headed.
They also gave us alot of exercises to work on at least 3X a day. Lifting & bending legs, knees & ankles & arms & elbows. The more we can do these, the better off he is.
Something else we weren't expecting is his pneumonia is worse instead of better. Not good but we'll keep him moving and that should help w/this also.
All of the staples from the orthopedic surgeries have been removed now. Most of the wounds look really good except for one. The wound on the right thigh is seeping (most likely from the fluids he's carrying) not from infection.
Now, once again you guys know what I know.
We're still waiting to see what the results of the chest xray from this morning are. I expect we'll see that doctor sometime today.
Thanks for praying
Suzi
I just wanted to add that Tim knows you all are checking on him by phone or visits &/or this blog. He is very grateful to all of you for your thoughts & prayers. Please keep it up - we know it works!
Tim also knows that the reason we are put on this earth is to bring glory to God:
Philippians 2: 9-11 Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We know that somehow Tim's condition will bring glory to God. We just don't know how yet. We may never know how but we can rest in the fact that it will.
That's what we are doing; resting and believing that God knows what we need & what's best for us.
Thanks so much for everything,
Tim & Suzi
Good morning everyone!
Waiting to see doctors this morning & physical therapists. We don't want any bed sores; apparently that's a concern now.
Tim was in pretty good spirits yesterday & last night, he only gets anxious when he's pretty heavily medicated but, he needs pain meds too.
I'll get back w/you soon, when I know something new.
We're leaning on the Everlasting Arms.
Suzi

Monday, June 29, 2009

Hello Everyone,
A few days after we were here a nurse told me that this kind of trauma brings one step forward & five steps backward. Now I'm starting to understand what she meant. Today Tim's having trouble breathing. Someone just came in to get some arterial blood to see how much oxygen is in his blood & someone else just did a chest xray to see what's going on with his lungs. Oh boy! Plus he's in alot of pain from his right shoulder.
As of yet, no physical therapist to get him stood up or help him move a bit. I'm sure they're busy, this is a gigantic hospital.
We know that God, our Heavenly Father is in control of all things and we're trusting Him and praying for His will to be done.
I'll let you know more as I know it.
Thanks for hangin' in there with us,
Suzi

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Hi Guys!
Tim's trying to rest, even though his right shoulder is bothering him like crazy. I think he'll be okay tonight if he can remember to ask Nurse Rita for pain meds when he needs it.
They didn't make Tim try to stand up today, maybe tomorrow.
He really looks alot better than he did a couple of days ago.
We'll see what tomorrow brings; I'm looking for good things!
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts & prayers! They mean so much to us!
Talk to you later,
Suzi
Hi Everyone,
Here we are in room 332; Tim's taking a good nap. Now they give pain medicine only upon request so he needs to remember to push the Nurse Sonya button. She's really nice & helpful.
Tim saw the doctor this morning & he wants him to stand today. Nurse Sonya said that may or may not happen till tomorrow. That's just what Tim's been asking for ever since he could speak. We'll see if it's really what he wants.
He's in alot of pain, so still needs the pain meds.
He look's great, but I can't wait for that mustache to grow back!
More later when we know something,
In Tim's own words: "Jesus loves you & so do I"
Timi Lynn & Suzi

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Hi, just a few words before they kick us out of here. Boy, they sure are busy here. Nothing like the one on one attention Tim got in ICU. I guess that's part of getting better. Hopefully he'll get some healing rest tonight.
The doctor's orders are no weight bearing right now because of the broken pelvis. We'll see what happens in the next few days.
Nurse Maria is taking care of him tonight, so I'll leave him in the capable hands of her & God.
Talk to you tomorrow,
Suzi
Well here we are on the third floor of the main hospital, rm#332. No longer in Trauma ICU. Moving was an ordeal & Tim is tuckered out, but Nurse Peggy got everything organized and got Tim moved about an hour ago.
Good News!!!
The pneumonia is under control good enough so that Tim can be moved to a regular hospital room. Now we just have to wait for a bed to become available. (Busy Hospital)
Suzi
Hi Everyone,
Timi Lynn & I got here this morning & Tim was sleeping. It's good to see that - he needs to rest.
Last nite the nurse was able to give him a nasal canula for oxygen instead of a mask at 50% oxygen. The new one is much more comfortable & now he requires less oxygen! This means his body is working better. Yeah!
More Later When We Know Something,
Suzi & Timi Lynn

Friday, June 26, 2009

EKG is normal! Heart rate GOOD!
He's sleeping restlessly, and visiting hours are over for now.
Timi Lynn and I will be back @ about 4:00 pm Pacific Time.
We'll fil you in then.
Bye for now,
Suzi
God is good & we are trully blessed!
Nurse Peggy just told us that Tim's heart beat is up & down so and EKG is scheduled. They'll come to his room to do it. Should happen shortly and I'll let you know the results as soon as I hear them.
Suzi
I forgot to add that the doc said his liver numbers are comming down (good thing) the jondice was apparently caused by the antibiotics. The pneumonia is still with us but getting better. He'll be on antibiotics for a few more days. I'm pretty sure she said his white count is normal. Yeah! They are continuing to do blood tests to make sure all is well or working towards being well.
Suzi
Hi, today is a whole new day. They were able to leave the vent tube out through the night and are giving 100% oxygen through a mask, plus breathing treatments.
Nurse Peggy is keeping him pretty comfortable even though he is convinced he needs to be leaving this place and staying at George's (whoever that is) he's a little delusional. Doctor Osegway says that's normal and could last a while.
Sometime today maybe they will get him up to sit in a big reclining chair, he's napping right now.

Thanks to you all for your thoughts & prayers! The Lord is trully amazing and is holding Tim in His righteous right hand right now! We are trully blessed!

Tyler & Debbie are doing a great job running APC - love those guys!
and thanks to everyone who is helping them!

More later,
Suzi & Timi Lynn

Thursday, June 25, 2009

He just told the nurse he is just exhausted. Visiting hours are over for now so maybe he will be able to get some rest.
Timi Lynn told him that she lost a tooth yesterday and he smiled and gave thumbs up.
When we were walking out I waved goodbye and he thumbs upped again.
Hooray!!! Tim's ventilator tube was just taken out! Praise the Lord!
I know we still have a very long way to go, but this is just one less thing to aggrivate him. He isn't speaking like normal, but he can whisper and try to talk.
The very minute the tube was out, he struggled to say "can we go now?" I love it! We told him they need him to stay for a few more days. "ok" he whispered.
We love reading all of your comments! My dad really has some great friends new and old!
Thank you all!
Last night they lowered the # of respiration's per minute to 8! My mom was able to sit with him last night for a few hours. He was wide awake! They watched TV for a while and then he said he wanted to go to sleep so he gestured for Mom to go to bed :)

This morning when we got to the hospital he was awake and they have lowered the vent to 6. Yay Daddy! :) that's what I told him. He is checking out his legs and arms. We tell him which ones are broken or not. It was good to see. He was looking at a tube that goes into his arm and we could kinda understand him ask "what's this?" I told him it is where they are taking blood from when they need to do a test or check his blood sugar level. He made a face that said "okay."
A little later he wanted a nurse. She took a while to get there but when she came he said "there she is."
My mom was told that they are aggressively trying to take him off of the vent today! That will be so nice for him! At least then he will be able to tell us what he needs instead of playing charades.

Again thank you! thank you! everyone for all of the help and support and prayers!

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Today Dad looks much better! He looks very peaceful. He is mostly sleeping, but once in a while he peeks at us.
Woo Hoo! they have started weaning him off of the ventilator! This morning they are giving just 10 respiration's per minute down from 14! and less oxygen.
The scans from last night showed no liver damage and no obstructions. Praise God! Also the doctor said his liver numbers are not high enough to cause brain damage and the numbers are going down. Praise God some more!!
His white blood count is up a little. He is getting lots of antibiotics still. But overall, his doctor who saw him Friday says he is looking much better today!

All of our friends have been so so generous! I don't know how we will ever be able to thank you all enough! Everyone please know that we are very grateful! And we thank God for all of you and your thoughfulness!
Yesterday Dad made us laugh a little bit. He was trying to write some things but it took much effort to hold a pen and write just one word. He did write a couple of things we could make out like "TV" and then "remote" (they had to guess at that one) so the nurse told him to push the button to call her and she would come change the channel for him. That make him smile a little. Then he wrote "grandpa" so Grandma asked him "You're asking about your dad?" He shook his head yes. She told him Grandpa had driven home already. Next he wrote "Dean" which was very clear. Dean is his brother who called earlier and my mom put the phone to Dad's ear. After Dean had talked Dad gave a thumbs up! Then he wrote "Zeke." So my mom asked him "do you want to see Zeke?" He nodded yes. After a minute she asked "do you want Zeke so he can pull out that vent tube for you?" Again he nodded yes. They told him none of us can take it out. If we did we would hurt him.
Last night after Dad's scan his face and neck were very swollen more than ever before. He had a new nurse who said the swelling was from the liver problems. Also, he had been sedated again so they could move him and do the tests they needed to do.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Not much new news right now. Dad is awake off and on. He is still on the vent so he is pretty frustrated, but he isn't quite ready to breathe on his own. He keeps gesturing to my mom that he wants to go home. She tells him we can't go yet, and he gets a little upset. It makes me laugh a little because I don't know if he is aware of all that is going on. I know the pain medicine is funny stuff.
He is about to go have a hide (not sure I'm spelling that correctly) scan. They are hoping to find out what is wrong with his liver. We will update as we know more.

Monday, June 22, 2009

Today was a great day! Tim was awake off and on all day long. After the neurologist saw him he was able to have pain medicine. What a blessing that stuff is sometimes. I know my dad thinks so.
Tomorrow we will see if he is able to write on a chalk board because he is still on the vent and unable to talk. He gets pretty frustrated when he needs something and no one knows what he is trying to say :( I can't imagine... Still we praise God for this great day! The nurse today said it will be at least another 24 hours before he gets to be off of the vent.
Thank you to everyone for the prayers! All of your help and support has been amazing.
The nurse says last night was uneventful. An EEG (brain scan) was done and we will get results maybe later today. Today they have not given one bit of pain medicine or sedative.
About an hour ago Tim was waking up and is very agitated. He is biting on his vent tube and trying to communicate. My mom said he wanted to be sat up.
The neurologist was just in and asked him to squeeze her hands. He did. Then she asked him to push against her hands with his feet one at a time which he did with the left foot but was unable to push with the right.
Praise God!!! I know he is very uncomfortable... actually he is probably miserable, but we are really glad he was able to follow commands this morning! Now that he did all of that the nurse was going to ask the doc if dad can have something for pain.

Sunday, June 21, 2009

Today the nurse told us she thinks Tim needs more pain medicine. She says he is obviously in pain and is not so sure he needs to be waking up yet. When the doctors did rounds this morning they ordered an ultrasound of his gall bladder to see if he has gall stones. He is turning yellow which means his liver is not doing its job very well.
It turns out he does not have gall stones. And does not have hepatitis so more tests were ordered with his blood and other things to see if that will show any reason his liver is having problems.
Even though he does show brain activity and is responding to pain, he still does not follow commands regularly like open your eyes or wiggle your toes etc. So a neurologist is coming to check him out probably Monday.
He still has the pneumonia. And they have his bed moving side to side and up and down slowly which should help his lungs.

Thank you all again for all of your prayers! We know that the strength we need only comes from God!
Monday morning was a big surprise to all of us. The nurse told Suzi that Tim had taken a turn for the worse. He now has pneumonia. Also he is totally sedated because he was trying to take out his breathing tube. His kidneys are not keeping up either so he is VERY puffy with all of the extra fluid in his body. His blood sugars have been all over the board.

Tuesday we were told he does not have pneumonia. Both humerus bones are broken and were set in surgery. His right femur is broken and was set in surgery. The left tib and fib are not broken, they are what was broken last year so they must still look newly broken on and xray.

Wednesday the doctor ordered that the sedation be taken off completely because they want to see Tim wake up. They have been monitoring brain activity and they say it is good.

Thursday morning Tim has still not waken up so the doctor took away all pain meds hoping that would wake him up. The docs are starting to get concerned that he hasn't waken up yet. His fever is pretty high and has been since Wednesday. He had a ct scan of his head and that came back with good results. Also an ultrasound of his thighs and legs was done today to check for blood clots and they did not find any.

Friday the doctor said Tim now does have pneumonia. Today he had an MRI done and scans of chest and belly. They are just looking for any reason that he is not waking up.

We are so very very thankful for all of the support from our friends and family. Thank you all for everything you have done! The phone calls, cards, donations, hotel rooms and prayers! We know that none of this is a surprise to God.

Sunday

Sunday (June 14) was a very good day! This day the doctors said they wanted to wean Tim off of the ventilator. He was down to 5 respiration's per minute. Many visitors came to see him. He was awake off and on. And he would open his eyes to look at us when he heard our voices. Also he was answering questions by shaking his head yes or no. He has a ventilator tube going down his throat is why he can not talk, but he did mouth some words! He even winked at Timi Lynn!! Zeke had asked him if he knew what happened and he shook his head yes. While Zeke and I were in with him one time he was pointing to his belly and I asked if it was itchy did he want me to scratch and he shook yes. Then we could see that the tubes were really bothering and he almost was gagging. He started moving his hands and finally we could see that he wanted his bed to be sitting up! Then the nurse asked if he wanted his mouth to be suctioned and he shook yes again. We were excited that he was communicating with us. The nurse said that once he gets totally off of the vent he won't have to be in ICU anymore because he has no internal problems, just bones. It was very hard for any of us to leave that night because we could see that he was frustrated and trying to tell us something but we could not understand.
Thank you for checking out this blog! My name is Erin Watson. My parents are Tim and Suzi Hebbert. I am doing this so anyone can check on my dad's progress. I will try to update as aften as I learn anything new!
Last Saturday (June 13) my parents were riding their motorcycles outside of Peach Springs, AZ. We are not sure why or how, but my dad crashed. There were no other vehicles involved. He was awake and alert when my mom got to the accident (she was leading so she had to turn around). At that time he told her that he thought his leg was broken and maybe his arm. He could wiggle his fingers and toes but was not moving much more than that. My mom said it was obvious that at least one leg was broken.
When the ambulance arrived they called for flight for life to come get him. After about 25 minutes the helicopter showed up. The police officer sent my mom on her way so she could get to the hospital as soon as possible. So she had to ride by herself back to Bullhead. I met her at their shop Arizona Performance Cycle, and we headed for University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV.
When we got to Searchlight Mom called UMC to see how things were going and let them know how far out we were. The nurse on the phone would not tell her anything. In fact she said just to come as quickly as we could and they didn't want to tell us any news while we were driving. After that phone call we tried to prepare for the worst... We just prayed and tried to stay calm the whole way. I have to say the trip was very smooth. And even though we were nervous God gave us the peace and strength we needed to get to the hospital.
Finally we made it to UMC. My best bud Cassie met us there and we scurried through the GIANT place trying to fing the Trauma ICU. Once we found it we were asked to sit and wait. and wait. It felt like forever before a doctor came to escort us to the "quiet room." Then she told us he was in surgery with two broken legs, two broken arms and a broken pelvis but no internal organs were damaged and no brain or spine damage was found! Praise God! We were expecting her to tell us he had gone to be with the Lord.
Shortly after that my brother Zeke showed up. He had been in Flagstaff, AZ and barrowed his girlfriends car to get to Las Vegas. We were glad to have him there with us. The only one missing was my husband Tyler who stayed in Bullhead to finish up some work at the shop and try to track down my dad's bike.
That first night Timi Lynn, Taryn and I stayed at Cassie's house but my mom and Zeke stayed at the hospital.
