Last night they lowered the # of respiration's per minute to 8! My mom was able to sit with him last night for a few hours. He was wide awake! They watched TV for a while and then he said he wanted to go to sleep so he gestured for Mom to go to bed :)

This morning when we got to the hospital he was awake and they have lowered the vent to 6. Yay Daddy! :) that's what I told him. He is checking out his legs and arms. We tell him which ones are broken or not. It was good to see. He was looking at a tube that goes into his arm and we could kinda understand him ask "what's this?" I told him it is where they are taking blood from when they need to do a test or check his blood sugar level. He made a face that said "okay."
A little later he wanted a nurse. She took a while to get there but when she came he said "there she is."
My mom was told that they are aggressively trying to take him off of the vent today! That will be so nice for him! At least then he will be able to tell us what he needs instead of playing charades.
