Hello All,
Good news! Tim has walked 65' now with no rest or break! He's doing so well that they're looking to have him released a week early! Thursday, September 3rd is the goal date now. On Tuesday the 2nd, we have to be at the rehab at 7:00am so we can learn whatever it is they want to teach us and then a family conference with the doctors and physical therapists. It'll be great to have him home.
Thanks so much for your prayers! See, they really work!
P.S. Keep checking the blog, I'll keep writing.

Hello,

Here's some good news for you: Yesterday, Tim walked the length of the gym using a walker! The gym is probably 30 ft. long & he did it twice (with a rest in the middle). The PT named Shauna told me that last night when I went to see Tim at dinner time. He's getting stronger every day. I can't wait to see what will happen next!

Happy Birthday to my dad, Lon Adams!

Talk to ya later,
Suzi

Good Morning Everyone,

This weekend Tim was looking great! The PT team & doctors are still looking to sending him home on 9/9. He's looking forward to that!

So far, he's been getting stronger everyday; working towards standing on his own & walking also. I watched him transfer from wheel chair to bed on Sunday by himself using a transfer board - it was a beautiful sight! It's amazing how much stronger he is in a week. God is good!

Thank you for sticking with us and for your prayers.

Hello Everyone,
Well, we have a tentative goal date set for Tim to go home: September 9th, 2009. I'm not sure of the goals they want him to achieve before he leaves but we'll probably find out on the 3rd at our 'family conference'. Pretty sure also that he'll continue to have physical therapy on a daily basis at the same hospital (hopefully).

Last night, Tim looked the best I've seen him since the accident! He even smiles once-in-a-while now. Praise God for that!

This past week PT had him working with weights on his legs and upper body and standing & walking with the parallel bars. I think he over did some of the weights on his left quad muscle - lots of pain; hopefully that will heal this weekend so he can practice walking again next week.

Now, once again, you guys know what I know.
Thanks for your thoughts & prayers!

NEWS FROM FT. MOHAVE

Hi,
I just wanted you all to know that physical & occupational therapy have been working with Tim daily; helping him to stand & walk & transfer from wheel chair to bed by himself. I guess he & Taryn will be learning to walk together.

Lately he's been looking better & better. I think they must have his pain medicine figured out for the most part and I think he's feeling better as well. He's been having some trouble with low blood sugars but they'll get that figured out too.

Talk to ya later,
Suzi

Good Morning All,

It's been a while since I logged in to say anything: I'm sorry.

So far, Tim's doing pretty well in Valley View Rehab, rm# 104. He's not making great strides, but he is making progress. They've had him doing a lot of work with weights on his legs in the gym and yesterday he took baby steps forward and backward in the parallel bars. Also, at times they're having him get from his wheel chair into bed without the help of the "Sarah Lift". See, that's progress. I'm really proud of him!

Thanks for you continued prayers - I know he needs all the encouragement he can get!

FYI: Visiting hours are 3:45pm - 8:00pm on weekdays, and all day on Saturday & Sunday. Usually they're pretty lenient regarding the hours you show up & stay.

Thanks, Suzi

Good Morning From Ft. Mohave! finally

Hello everyons,
Finally they moved Tim to the Rehab In Ft. Mohave yesterday morning. He got there just in time for lunch.

Today should be the usual routine of rehab all day till 3:30 if they can get his pain medicine right. The doctors are more than willing to help with that, which is good.

He's in room #104 @ Valley View Medical Center in the Rehab Dept. & visiting hours are 3:45 pm till 8:oo pm. All day on Saturdays & Sundays.

More Later,
Suzi

Good Morning, (It is still morning in Vegas)

We just saw the doctor; he said everything is all set for Tim to go & he's writing it up now. So, if we don't hold our breaths, maybe Tim will be in Ft. Mohave @ Valley View Rehab before his birthday tomorrow.

I'll try to write quick when they show up to get him so you all know that he's really being moved.

Well Sports Fans, looks like one more night in Vegas. Tim's disappointed, but he'll make it through the night and he'll be much better when they get him to Ft. Mohave (hopefully tomorrow).

Just thought I'd let you know we're still here.
Thank you so much for your prayers, they are needed and appreciated.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.
Good morning, I'm writing to you from rm# 326 @ UMC in Vegas.
Yes, that's right, we're still here waiting to see what the rest of the day will bring. Just heard from the case manager working for the insurance company, checking to make sure that it was alright with us if they moved Tim back to rehab. When I assured her that it was, she said she would start making the arrangements. So, hopefully Tim will get transferred today sometime.

Now you're up to date.
We're just waiting,
Suzi

Hello,
The doc was just here & said that probably first thing tomorrow (by noon) Tim could be moved back to Ft. Mohave. So, we'll spend one more night here.

Other than that, he said that Tim's liver is NORMAL! Great News! God Is Good!

Okie Dokie Then,
Talk to you later,
Suzi
Well, we're still here @ noon on Monday, and haven't seen any docs yet. Kind of a let down for Tim, but we've been in this place long enough to know how things work (SLOWLY).

We so appreciate every one of you staying connected with us and your thoughts and prayers.

Here's a verse that Tim's Uncle Eldon sent to us this morning: Psalm 40:11 As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me.

It's always good to be reminded of God's faithfulness!
Hopefully the next post will be from Ft. Mohave.

Hi everyone! Just thought we'd let you know that things are pretty much the same here @ UMC.

We saw 4 (count 'em: four) docs today. Even the orthopedic surgeon came in and said everything looks good. Tim's left leg has been turned outward at probably 35% lately and the doctor said that we could fix that by making sure to hold it straight. I had no idea; I thought surgery was the only way to fix that. So that's good news and something else to work on. I know it pains him some but I think he was a little relieved to know that he could fix it himself.

The other docs changed some medicines or added or subtracted medicines. We'll see tomorrow how that all works out.

I know I've posted these verses before, but they are certainly something I'm holding onto during this time. Lamentations 3:21,22&23: But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS!

Thanks for staying with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SISTER-IN-LAW SHELLY ADAMS!

Good Morning,

Tim slept till about 4:30 this morning; I guess he had a pretty good night.

The wound care team came in to change the bandage on his bed sore (as they do everyday), it's been getting better & smaller day by day. Today there is a dark spot in one corner of the wound. They said this part is deeper; that's new. The rest of the wound looks so good - hopefully this will get better as everything else has with all of your /our prayers.

So yesterday, we only saw the kidney doc. Kidneys still doing well. The other two docs never showed. I guess they couldn't handle the begging & pleading from us : Please send us to Ft. Mohave! Just kidding. Apparently they didn't have anything new to tell us.

Okay, if we find anything out today, I'll let you know.
Have a great Saturday!

Hi everyone,

Well, we've already heard that Tim will not be moved today to Ft. Mohave. His labs are not quite good enough to go yet. The doctors at the rehab are concerned that he'll be sick in no time if he comes with labs that are not quite up to par. They don't want to have to send him back. Also the doctor here is apprehensive about sending him in this condition. So, I guess it was a unanimous decision. Tim is disappointed, but he'll make it through the weekend. I'll be here to keep him company.

Here's a Bible verse that has kept me going through all this: Romans 5: 3,4&5 ...More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Thanks for your prayers,
Suzi ENDURANCE! CHARACTER! HOPE!

Hi,
I guess we'll see tomorrow if Tim gets moved to Ft Mohave. White count level is down & the doc took Tim off antibiotics for now. That's good.
Hopefully the high liver enzyme is lower tomorrow too.
Everyone have a great night!
Suzi
Hi everyone,

Tim had a great night, he said he slept good all night long! That's wonderful!
Everyone needs one of those once-in-while!
We haven't seen docs yet to know if levels are coming down.

Nurses are very busy here today, apparently the "big bosses" are here. Look out. Suddenly a nurse rushes in and writes Tim's name on everything. Weird. (Must be a requirement)

Well, we'll talk more later,
Have a great day!

WAY TO GO ELI MANNING! TAKIN' HOME THE BIG BUCKS!

I guess it's obvious we watch too much ESPN... something about $97.5 million; you just gotta talk about it.

Well, hi from UMC still. Tim's general doctor came in to say that one liver enzyme is still to high but coming down and white count is still up, so he wants to see those come down before he sends Tim back to rehab.

Thought you might want to know that and this: Eli & his brother, Peyton are #3 & #4 highest paid players in the NFL.

Talk to ya later,
Suzi
Okay, we just saw Dr. Johanna who is an Internal Medicine Doctor. She and her "attending" are the doctors concerned with Tim's liver.
Dr. Johanna explained that the ducts on the liver to the small intestine is what has been damaged. No way to say how much damage was caused but his liver enzymes are improving. They think that one of the heart medicines Tim was on during this ordeal is what may have caused it. Also, she said this was acute and not chronic which is better because the liver is more likely to heal this way.
So if any of that makes sense, you now know as much as we do.
Thanks to God for His mercy & healing! And thanks to you all for your prayers!
Now we'll see how long it takes for all the powers that be to confer & agree to send Tim back to rehab. Privately, they've each said that they agree he no longer needs to be in a hospital but in a rehab instead.
Thanks for hanging with us,
Suzi
Good morning,
Just waiting to see docs this morning. We have lots of questions; one of them being "When can we go back to Ft. Mohave?". This week they seem to be making rounds a little later than last week.
I'll get back to you as soon as we see someone.

"The Envelope Please"

Hi,
Well when we saw the doctor today, he said the biopsy showed that what liver damage was there, was most likely caused by the medicines given to him in the hospital.
But, we still haven't talked to the Liver doctors yet. The general doc said they could explain the results further.
Hopefully we'll see them soon.
Thanks for your prayers,
Suzi

Monday, August 3, 2009

Hi,
It's 5:50 here in Vegas and no results yet. Maybe we'll get some news tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know that we don't know yet.
What we do know is God's still in our corner as He always will be. IICorinthians 1:10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will deliver us again.
Tim's in alot of pain today. Hopefully it's just because he's been moving & working more.
Thanks for checking with us,
Suzi
Good Morning,

Today, maybe we'll get some results from the liver byopsy.
Yesterday I was watching as PT helped Tim stand up with the use of a walker. He took 5 small steps while turning to sit in a chair. It was very painfull. Hopefully as he does that more his pain will lessen. He needs a lot of help when standing - he just doesn't have the strength yet. Still, I'm very proud of him!
Our verses to hold onto today are Lamentations 3:21,22, 23: But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. they are new every morning;great is your faithfulness.
Thankyou so much for you continued prayers for healing! We couldn't be handling this well without them!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Good morning everyone,
Tim woke up early this morning, about 4:ooam, but he's had a couple of short naps since about 8:00. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a great day.
Dr. Patel, Tim's general contractor, said Tim needs to be standing more & more. He still has to have a lot of help from PT to stand. The doc said he was going to write PT a note to that effect. So, hopefully he'll be standing w/help a few times a day, and then in no time he'll be doing it by himself!
We're still waiting for results from the byopsy. Kind of half way expecting them tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

FUN & GAMES

Hi everyone!
During the night, under cover of darkness, the nurses moved Tim four doors down. Is this some sick joke nurses play when they're board? Do they fancy themselves a "Mobile Army Surgical Unit"?
Just teasing - a patient came in who needed to be on a respirator and room 330 was equipped for it. So Tim got to be moved to 326. Sitting here in 326 you'd have no idea you were moved if you were asleep during the process; these rooms are identical!
As for today, it's been uneventful. Doctors stopped by early with no news and Physical Therapy didn't show. Just a few minutes ago Tim had me help him sit on the side of the bed. He stayed there for about fifteen minutes.
Oh! There is some good news! I almost for got to tell you about the bed sore: it's getting better! Yeah!
Okay, have a great afternoon, we'll talk later,
Suzi
